City Council Committees Tackle Infrastructure and Utility Management Today

The City of Gold Coast is advancing its 2026 legislative agenda as two major standing committees convene at the Bundall Civic Chambers today, Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The Transport & Infrastructure (T&I) Committee and the Water, Waste & Energy (WW&E) Committee are scheduled to deliberate on critical policy updates, infrastructure investments, and service delivery strategies designed to support the region’s growing population.

The Transport & Infrastructure Committee session is expected to focus on long-term mobility solutions and current road network upgrades. As the Gold Coast continues to experience rapid urban expansion, particularly in the northern corridors, the committee’s agenda highlights the need for integrated transport planning. Key topics for today’s session include the review of traffic management projects, the expansion of active transport networks like cycleways, and the ongoing maintenance of the city's extensive bridge and road assets.

Simultaneously, the Water, Waste & Energy Committee will meet to address the city’s utility resilience and sustainability goals. Following recent administrative reviews, councillors are expected to discuss infrastructure projects related to water security and waste reduction. A primary focus for the WW&E committee today is the evaluation of innovative waste management technologies and the implementation of energy-efficient measures across city-owned facilities. These discussions are part of a broader effort to identify operational savings and mitigate cost-of-living pressures for residents through more efficient utility management.

Beyond the formal committee rooms, the City of Gold Coast is also hosting a significant government-led community session today. The "Creative Control" First Nations Arts Incubator information session is being held at the Broadbeach Community Space. This council-led initiative, funded through the Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership with the Queensland Government, aims to empower First Nations artists and creative entrepreneurs. The program focuses on building sustainable business practices rooted in cultural integrity, providing a pathway for local creators to grow their enterprises within the city’s evolving economy.

Mayor Tom Tate and the divisional councillors continue to emphasize transparency in these proceedings. All committee meetings taking place today are open to the public, with residents invited to observe the sessions from the public gallery at 135 Bundall Road. For those unable to attend in person, the City of Gold Coast provides a live-streaming service via its official digital channels, ensuring that the community remains informed about the decisions shaping the future of the region.
