Transport and Infrastructure Updates

As of Wednesday, 18 March 2026, Phase 2 of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 testing and commissioning is active across the full 6.7-kilometre alignment. Trams are currently operating without passengers between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads as part of rigorous safety and systems integration. Residents in Nobby Beach and Miami may also observe ongoing finishing works, including the installation of pedestrian handrails, landscaping, and final line marking along the Gold Coast Highway corridor.

• Mudgeeraba Road Rehabilitation: Berrigans Road remains closed to through-traffic between Gold Coast-Springbrook Road and Mark Way for urgent pavement reconstruction. Local residents are advised to utilize Mark Way for property access, while all other motorists should follow posted detours.
• Hinterland Remediation: Major landslip repairs continue at 28 active work sites along Gold Coast-Springbrook Road. Stop/slow traffic control is in effect between Neranwood and Pine Creek Road. Commuters should allow for additional travel time of approximately 15 minutes through the hinterland region.

Queensland Health has maintained a high-priority advisory for the Gold Coast regarding increased community transmission of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles. • Stormwater and Swimming Safety: Following recent rainfall, a persistent swimming advisory remains in place. The City of Gold Coast reminds the community that Elanora Linkage Park remains fully closed to the public. Critical landslip remediation and stormwater infrastructure upgrades are ongoing to ensure the long-term stability of the area.
