Official Notice: City Infrastructure Updates and Public Health Advisories

Official City Notices Roundup: Friday, 6 March 2026
The City of Gold Coast and regional health authorities have issued several official notices and public service announcements for Friday, 6 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following updates regarding public health, infrastructure projects, and community planning initiatives currently active across the region.
Public Health and Environmental Advisories
- Communicable Disease Alert: Gold Coast Health has confirmed that Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles continue to circulate within the community. Residents are urged to ensure vaccinations and boosters are up to date, particularly for those in close contact with infants. If symptoms such as high fever, cough, or a red spotty rash occur, please call 13-HEALTH or your GP for advice before attending a clinic in person.
- Mosquito Management Program: Following recent environmental conditions and rainfall, the City has intensified its mosquito control operations. Specialized teams are currently conducting surveillance and treatment in salt marsh environments and low-lying habitats. Property owners are requested to assist by eliminating standing water in containers, gutters, and pot plant saucers.
Major Transport and Road Closures
- Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Construction remains intensive between Miami and Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway is restricted to a single lane in both directions between Dawn Parade and West Burleigh Road. A strict 40km/h speed limit applies through the zone. Several bus stops, including those at Third Avenue and Anzac Parade, remain closed for integration works.
- Coomera Connector (Stage 1): Heavy works are progressing in the Central package between Helensvale and Molendinar. The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive is currently closed as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Local detours are in place.
- Hinterland Road Works: Berrigans Road in Mudgeeraba remains under a full closure between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way for essential pavement rehabilitation. Additionally, Hardys Road and sections of Mount Cougal Road remain restricted due to residual damage from previous weather events.
Planning and Development Notifications
- Southport (32 Smith Street): A formal public notification period is active until 17 March 2026 for a proposed Material Change of Use (Application MCU/2025/466) for a showroom and low-impact industry project.
- Paradise Point (29 Abalone Avenue): The public may submit comments regarding the proposed multiple dwelling development (Application MCU/2025/384) through Monday, 9 March 2026.
- Broadbeach Waters (MCU/2025/530): Submissions are being accepted until 23 March 2026 regarding a proposed 3-unit dwelling development. Plans are available for viewing via the City’s PD Online portal.
Parks and Facilities Updates
