Public Notice: Final Call for Infrastructure Planning Submissions

The City of Gold Coast reminds residents that the formal public consultation period for the proposed Interim Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) Amendment concludes today, Monday, 2 March 2026. This amendment is critical for the city’s long-term planning of trunk infrastructure and development projections through 2041. Properly made submissions must be received by the City no later than close of business today. Physical copies of the amendment remain available for final inspection at regional libraries in Broadbeach, Elanora, Helensvale, Nerang, and Southport.

Major Transport and Roadway Disruptions

Significant construction activity continues across the city’s major transport corridors. Motorists and commuters should note the following active notices:

  • Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Construction remains intensive between Miami and Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway is currently restricted to a single lane in both directions between Dawn Parade and West Burleigh Road. Several bus stops, including those at Burleigh Heads, Third Avenue, and Anzac Parade, remain closed for integration works.
  • Coomera Connector (Stage 1): Heavy works are progressing in the Central package between Helensvale and Molendinar. The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive is scheduled for closure as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Local detours are in place; please follow all posted signage.
  • Berrigans Road, Mudgeeraba: A full closure remains in effect between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way for essential pavement rehabilitation.

Park Maintenance and Facility Updates

Ongoing upgrades to community spaces are reaching key milestones this week:

  • Coomera Sports Park: Major renovations on touch football fields 1 through 8 are scheduled for completion today, 2 March. Following final safety inspections, these fields are expected to reopen for regular club use.
  • Elanora Linkage Park: The park remains fully closed to the public as crews work to repair landslip damage and upgrade stormwater infrastructure. These works are expected to continue through mid-2026.

Public Health and Environmental Advisories

Queensland Health and City officials have issued the following advisories for the current period:

  • Mosquito Management: Following recent rainfall, the City has intensified mosquito control operations in salt marsh environments. Residents are urged to eliminate standing water on their properties to prevent breeding.
  • Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Alert: Health authorities confirm that Pertussis continues to circulate within the Gold Coast community. Residents are encouraged to ensure vaccinations and boosters are up to date.
  • Coastal Recovery: Restoration efforts following the 2025 cyclone season remain active. Dredging and sand nourishment programs are currently focused on rebuilding the sand buffer at Surfers Paradise and Main Beach.
