Gold Coast City Council Meeting Today

The Council of the City of Gold Coast is convening for a full Council session today, Tuesday, 10 March 2026. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. within the Civic Chamber at 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise. Councillors are expected to deliberate on reports from the Transport and Infrastructure and the Water, Waste, and Energy committees. Members of the public are welcome to attend the gallery in person or view the proceedings via the City's official live-stream channel. This session serves as a critical point for the ratification of local policy following the recent conclusion of budget consultation periods.

Public Health and Environmental Advisories

Queensland Health has issued a reminder to Gold Coast residents that both Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles continue to circulate within the region. Authorities urge individuals to ensure their vaccinations and boosters are current. Residents experiencing symptoms such as a red, spotty rash or a persistent cough are advised to stay home and contact health services for guidance. Furthermore, a Flood Watch remains active for much of Southeast Queensland, including the Gold Coast, due to heavy rainfall associated with the March weather system. In response to recent conditions, the City has intensified its mosquito management operations. Specialized teams are currently treating salt marsh environments and low-lying habitats to mitigate breeding risks. Property owners are encouraged to assist by eliminating any standing water on their premises.

Major Infrastructure and Traffic Disruptions

Significant construction activity continues to impact the city’s major transport corridors. Residents should plan for delays at the following locations:

  • Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: The Gold Coast Highway is restricted to a single lane in both directions between Dawn Parade in Miami and George Street East in Burleigh Heads. A strict 40km/h speed limit is in effect through this zone.
  • Coomera Connector (Stage 1): The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive is fully closed as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Motorists must follow the posted local detours via the Smith Street Motorway.
  • Gold Coast-Springbrook Road: Reconstruction and landslip remediation works have commenced across 28 sites. Motorists should expect stop/slow traffic control between Neranwood and Pine Creek Road.
  • Mudgeeraba Road Rehabilitation: Berrigans Road remains closed between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way for essential pavement works.
  • Arundel Roadworks: The Smith Street Off Ramp at Arundel remains closed today for planned maintenance, requiring detours through adjacent interchanges.

Public Facilities and Community Consultation

Elanora Linkage Park remains fully closed to the public as crews continue critical landslip repairs and stormwater infrastructure upgrades. These works are expected to remain active through mid-year. In community planning news, the formal feedback period for the 2026 Animal Control Area Register is currently open. This review will designate new dog off-leash zones and animal-prohibited areas across the city. Residents have until Monday, 16 March 2026, to submit their formal comments through the City's consultation portal.
