Official City Notices: Monday, 9 March 2026

The City of Gold Coast and regional health authorities have issued several official notices and public service announcements active for Monday, 9 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following updates regarding community planning, public health, and infrastructure projects currently affecting the region.

Community Planning and Development

  • Paradise Point Development Deadline: Today, Monday, 9 March 2026, is the final day for the public to submit formal comments regarding the proposed multiple dwelling development at 29 Abalone Avenue (Application MCU/2025/384). Submissions must be received by close of business to be considered in the assessment process.
  • Animal Control Area Register: The formal feedback period for the 2026 Animal Control Area Register remains active. This review aims to designate new dog off-leash zones and animal-prohibited areas. Submissions will be accepted through 16 March 2026.

Public Health and Environmental Alerts

  • Communicable Disease Alert: Gold Coast Health reminds residents that Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles continue to circulate in the community. Individuals are urged to ensure vaccinations are up to date. If symptoms such as a red spotty rash or persistent cough occur, contact 13-HEALTH for advice.
  • Mosquito Management: Following recent environmental conditions, the City has intensified its mosquito control operations. Specialized teams are currently conducting surveillance and treatment in salt marsh environments and low-lying habitats. Property owners should assist by eliminating standing water in containers and gutters.

Infrastructure and Roadworks

  • Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Construction remains intensive between Miami and Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway is restricted to a single lane in both directions between Dawn Parade and West Burleigh Road with a strict 40km/h speed limit.
  • Coomera Connector (Stage 1): The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive is currently closed as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Local detours are in place for all motorists.
  • Mudgeeraba Road Rehabilitation: Berrigans Road remains under a full closure between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way for essential pavement rehabilitation. Residents should follow all posted detour signage.
  • Elanora Linkage Park: This facility remains fully closed to the public as crews carry out critical landslip repairs and stormwater infrastructure upgrades, with works expected to continue through mid-year.
