Public Notice: City Council Meeting and Storm Recovery Updates

Official City Notices for Tuesday, 17 February 2026
The City of Gold Coast provides the following official notices and public service announcements for Tuesday, 17 February 2026. Residents are encouraged to review the status of infrastructure projects, public safety advisories, and community consultation periods currently active across the region.
Council Meeting Schedule
An ordinary meeting of the Council of the City of Gold Coast is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, 17 February 2026. This meeting serves as a primary forum for local governance, covering planning approvals and infrastructure development reviews. Residents can access official minutes and agendas via the City’s digital planning portal. Following today’s session, the Planning and Regulation Committee is scheduled to meet on 24 February 2026.
Post-Storm Infrastructure and Road Closures
Following the severe rainfall event that affected the region mid-month, recovery efforts continue. While the most intense weather has passed, several key infrastructure points remain impacted by residual flooding and debris. The following road closures and restrictions remain in place:
- Hardys Road (Mudgeeraba/Bonogin): Closed to all traffic due to long-term flooding and pavement damage.
- Berrigans Road (Mudgeeraba): A full closure is in effect between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way.
- Mount Cougal Road (Tallebudgera Valley): The end section remains closed following flash flooding damage.
- Old Coach Road (Reedy Creek): Significant inundation has been reported between Tallebudgera Creek Road and Kingsmore Boulevard; motorists should avoid the area.
The City’s Disaster and Emergency Dashboard remains the central point for live updates on road safety and flood monitoring.
Community Consultation and Planning
The City of Gold Coast is currently inviting residents to participate in several key planning initiatives:
- Interim LGIP Amendment: Public consultation is open until 2 March 2026. This involves updates to the Local Government Infrastructure Plan regarding growth projections and trunk infrastructure financial modeling.
- 2026-27 City Budget: Community feedback is currently being sought to help prioritize essential services and regional projects for the upcoming financial year.
- Snapper Rocks Master Plan: Residents can still contribute to the Snapper Rocks to Rainbow Bay Foreshore Precinct Master Plan, which aims to improve coastal resilience and community facilities.
Public Health and Accessibility
The City’s Beach Access Program is fully operational at Burleigh Heads. Self-service beach wheelchairs (WaterWheels and Sandpiper models) are available in lockboxes near the Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club. These can be accessed during patrolled hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. A specialized Changing Places facility, featuring a hoist and shower, is also available nearby to support visitors with reduced mobility.
Transport and Light Rail Works
Construction for Light Rail Stage 3 continues to impact traffic flow. The Gold Coast Highway between Dawn Parade and West Burleigh Road is reduced to a single lane in both directions. A strict 40km/h speed limit applies through the construction zone to ensure the safety of pedestrians and site workers.
