Public Consultation: Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) Amendment
The City of Gold Coast has officially commenced the public consultation period for the proposed Interim Amendment to the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP). This significant amendment aims to update planning assumptions regarding the type, scale, and timing of development across the city through to 2041. Notice is hereby given that the consultation period is active from now until 2 March 2026.
Residents are encouraged to review the updated plans for trunk infrastructure, including demand projections for various networks and revised financial modeling. Submissions must be properly made in writing and received before the closing date to be considered in the final report to the Planning Minister. Documents can be inspected at the City’s customer service centers in Broadbeach, Elanora, Helensvale, Nerang, Southport, and Upper Coomera.
Project Update: Burleigh Heads Foreshore Revitalisation
Public feedback is currently being sought for the Burleigh Heads Foreshore Revitalisation Project. Active as of Wednesday, 11 February 2026, this consultation focuses on essential infrastructure upgrades designed to protect the coastline from erosion. Key components of the proposal include:
- Full reconstruction of the ageing seawall between Justins Park and Mowbray Park.
- Widening of the Oceanway to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety.
- New picnic and barbecue facilities at the foreshore.
- Proposed options for a new swimming lagoon or a children’s bike and scooter track at Rudd Park.
The consultation period remains open until 24 February 2026. Residents are invited to view the concept plans which have been informed by the Burleigh Heads Place Making Plan.
2026-27 City Budget: Final Call for Submissions
Community consultation for the City’s annual Budget for 2026-27 is entering its final week. Residents have until 16 February 2026 to provide feedback on the proposed investment in services, infrastructure, and community projects. This budget aligns with the broader Council Plan 2022–2027 and focuses on delivering value-for-money services while maintaining the Gold Coast lifestyle.
Road Maintenance: Annual Rehabilitation Program
The 2025-26 Annual Road Rehabilitation Program continues across various suburbs this week. Motorists should anticipate minor delays and partial lane closures as crews perform pavement repairs, kerb replacements, and line marking. Ongoing works are scheduled for the following areas:
