Official City Notice Roundup: Infrastructure and Health Advisories for Monday, 30 March

Public Notice: Essential Service Updates and Community Advisories
As the City of Gold Coast transitions into the final week of March, several official notices and public service announcements have been issued to ensure resident safety and to manage urban infrastructure projects. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following advisories active for Monday, 30 March 2026.
Major Transport and Infrastructure Disruptions
Significant construction activity and scheduled maintenance are impacting several major transport corridors across the region. Commuters are advised to plan for additional travel time and follow all posted detours.
- Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Intensive construction works continue along the coastal corridor between Miami and Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway remains restricted to a single lane in both directions from Dawn Parade to West Burleigh Road. A strictly enforced 40km/h speed limit is in effect to protect workers and the public.
- Mermaid Beach Water Works: A planned half-road closure is active on Lavarack Road, specifically between the Gold Coast Highway and Petrel Avenue. These works are necessary for the installation of new water services and are expected to cause local delays throughout the day. On-site traffic control is managing vehicle flow.
- Coomera Connector (Stage 1): The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive remains fully closed to all traffic as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Motorists are directed to utilize detours via the Smith Street Motorway.
- Hinterland Road Remediation: Stop/slow traffic control is active across multiple sites on the Gold Coast-Springbrook Road between Neranwood and Pine Creek Road. Crews are conducting critical landslip remediation and pavement reconstruction following seasonal weather events.
Public Health and Environmental Advisories
Regional health authorities and environmental services have maintained several active alerts for the Gold Coast community.
- Communicable Disease Vigilance: Queensland Health has confirmed the continued community circulation of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles. Residents are urged to verify their vaccination status and ensure boosters are current. If you or a family member exhibit symptoms such as a persistent cough, high fever, or a red, spotty rash, please contact health services via phone before visiting a clinic.
- Water Quality and Swimming Safety: Following recent seasonal rainfall, the City advises caution when using local waterways. Residents are recommended to avoid swimming in coastal beaches for at least 24 hours, and in rivers, lakes, or estuaries for up to three days, due to the risk of bacterial contamination from stormwater runoff.
- Mosquito Management: Specialized City teams are currently conducting mosquito management treatments in salt marsh environments and low-lying habitats to mitigate breeding risks associated with recent wet weather. Property owners are also encouraged to remove standing water from containers around their homes.
Parks and Community Facilities
- Elanora Linkage Park Closure: This facility remains fully closed to the public as crews continue critical landslip repairs and stormwater infrastructure upgrades. These essential safety works are expected to persist through mid-2026.
- Australian Surf Life Saving Championships: "The Aussies" 2026 remain active at major coastal hubs. Residents should expect significantly increased pedestrian activity and limited parking availability near competition beaches. Localized traffic diversions may be implemented at short notice to manage crowd safety.
