Official City Roundup: Major Infrastructure Updates and Public Notices
The City of Gold Coast and regional health authorities have issued the following public notices and service announcements active for Monday, 23 March 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates to ensure community safety and to minimize travel delays during the work week.
Transport and Infrastructure Alerts
Significant construction and maintenance activity continue across the city's road network. Key disruptions for Monday include:
- Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3: Intensive works remain active between Miami and Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway is restricted to a single lane in both directions from Dawn Parade to West Burleigh Road. A 40km/h speed limit is strictly enforced through this 6.7-kilometre corridor.
- Coomera Connector (Stage 1): The bridge overpass at Ridgevale Drive remains fully closed as part of the 2026 bridge replacement program. Motorists are advised to continue using posted detours via the Smith Street Motorway.
- Hinterland Road Remediation: Reconstruction and landslip repairs are active at 28 separate sites along the Gold Coast-Springbrook Road. Stop/slow traffic control is in place between Neranwood and Pine Creek Road; commuters should expect intermittent delays of approximately 10 minutes per site.
- Mudgeeraba Pavement Works: Berrigans Road remains closed to through traffic between Gold Coast-Springbrook Road and Mark Way for essential pavement rehabilitation.
- Public Transport: The temporary bus stop closure on Warrungen Way in Ashmore remains in effect through today. Additionally, rail services on the Gold Coast line have resumed normal weekday operations following the completion of weekend track maintenance.
Public Health and Environmental Advisories
Queensland Health and City environmental services maintain several active advisories for the Gold Coast region:
- Communicable Disease Vigilance: Health authorities continue to monitor community transmission of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Measles. Residents are urged to verify their vaccination status and contact health services by phone if symptoms such as a high fever or persistent cough develop.
- Water Quality and Swimming Safety: Following recent seasonal rainfall, the City advises caution when using local waterways. While coastal beaches are generally clear 24 hours after significant rain, swimming in rivers, lakes, or estuaries is discouraged for at least three days due to potential bacterial contamination from stormwater runoff.
- Mosquito Management: Specialized teams are currently conducting mosquito management treatments in salt marsh environments to mitigate breeding risks following the recent wet weather.
Parks and Community Notices
- Facility Closures: Elanora Linkage Park remains fully closed to the public. Critical landslip repairs and stormwater infrastructure upgrades are ongoing and expected to continue through mid-year.
- Event Activation: The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, colloquially known as "The Aussies," officially commences today, 23 March. Increased pedestrian activity and minor local traffic changes may be present around major coastal competition hubs.
- Public Auction Notice: The City of Gold Coast reminds residents of the upcoming public auction for land with overdue rates, scheduled for Thursday, 26 March 2026. This auction will be conducted as a virtual-only event.
