Official Roundup: City Notices, Roadworks, and Health Advisories for February 2

City Strategy and Public Consultation
The City of Gold Coast reminds residents that several key public consultation windows are currently active or approaching. Feedback is currently being sought for the City Budget 2026–27. This annual consultation period, which remains open until 16 February 2026, allows residents to provide input on infrastructure investment, transport improvements, and community services. Additionally, public notice has been issued regarding a proposed interim amendment to the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP). While the formal submission period commences tomorrow, 3 February, documentation is available today for review at City customer service centres in Broadbeach, Helensvale, and Southport.
Essential Roadworks and Traffic Updates
Motorists are advised of several planned road closures and traffic disruptions effective Monday, 2 February 2026, as part of the City’s annual road rehabilitation program and ongoing light rail construction:
- Helensvale: Buckler Drive remains closed to all traffic between Cyan Street and the Town Centre Drive roundabout for essential bridge works. Residents are advised to seek alternative routes.
- Mermaid Beach: Planned roadworks continue along the Gold Coast Highway and its adjacent service roads. In addition, Translink has confirmed that the bus stop at Nobby Beach shops (Stop ID 300340) is scheduled to resume normal operations following a temporary closure that concludes today.
- Arundel: The Smith Street eastbound access ramp from the Smith Street Motorway remains closed for ongoing maintenance.
Parks, Recreation, and Waterways
Several local sports facilities are scheduled to return to service today following extensive maintenance. In Coomera Sports Park, Rugby League fields 1 through 4 are set to reopen for public and club use. Similarly, Soccer fields 1 through 4 at Coplick Family Sports Park have completed their renovation cycle as of 2 February. However, touch football fields at Cos Zantiotis Park will remain closed for renovation until late February.
On the Broadwater, the Gold Coast Waterways Authority advises that the Sand Bypass System (SBS) jetty remains a restricted construction zone. Due to essential maintenance and sand pumping operations, the jetty will remain closed to the public through the remainder of 2026.
Public Health Advisory
Gold Coast Health continues to monitor community health trends. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as Whooping Cough (Pertussis) continues to circulate within the region. Health officials recommend that families ensure immunisations and boosters are up to date, particularly for those in contact with infants. Previous alerts regarding Measles also remain a priority for the Public Health Unit; residents experiencing symptoms such as fever or a blotchy rash should contact their GP ahead of arrival to prevent potential exposure in waiting rooms.
