Official Roundup: Gold Coast City Notices and Public Advisories

Community Consultation: 2026-27 City Budget
The City of Gold Coast is currently seeking feedback from residents regarding the 2026-27 City Budget. Mayor Tom Tate has invited the community to participate in the annual survey to help identify priorities for investment in services, infrastructure, and community facilities. This consultation period is active until 16 February 2026. Residents are encouraged to share their views on road networks, public safety, and park maintenance to guide the Council’s allocation of the upcoming multi-billion dollar budget.
Project Alert: Burleigh Heads Foreshore Revitalisation
Public consultation is now open for the Burleigh Heads Foreshore Revitalisation Project. This major initiative includes the rebuilding of the seawall between Justins Park and Mowbray Park to provide a critical defense against coastal erosion. Proposed upgrades also feature widening of the Oceanway for improved accessibility, new picnic and barbecue facilities, and a pedestrian promenade at Justins Park. Community members can provide feedback on the concept plans until 24 February 2026. While some parking will be relocated to increase open space, the City has confirmed there will be no net reduction in car parks within the precinct.
Infrastructure Planning: LGIP Amendments
A public notice has been issued regarding an interim amendment to the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP). This amendment aims to update demand projections and planning assumptions for the city's trunk infrastructure through 2041. The consultation period is active today and will conclude on 2 March 2026. Documents can be inspected at City customer service centres, including the Broadbeach, Elanora, and Helensvale libraries.
Waterways and Maintenance: SBS Jetty Closure
The Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA) reminds the public that the Sand Bypass System (SBS) jetty remains closed. For safety reasons, the jetty will be unavailable to the public through the remainder of 2026 due to essential maintenance and ongoing sand pumping operations. Coastal commuters and visitors are advised to utilize alternative jetty facilities shown on the regional destination maps.
Health Advisory: Measles and Respiratory Warnings
Gold Coast Health has maintained a public health advisory following recent reports of measles cases in Queensland. Residents are urged to ensure their vaccinations are up to date, particularly those planning international travel or visiting high-traffic transit hubs. Additionally, health officials note that Pertussis (whooping cough) continues to circulate in the community. Pregnant women and those in close contact with infants are advised to check their booster status.
Theme Park Maintenance Schedule
Visitors to the northern Gold Coast should be aware of scheduled maintenance at major attractions. As of early February, the Sky Voyager experience at Dreamworld is closed for an extended maintenance period and is not expected to return to service until late March 2026. Additionally, the Motocoaster attraction has now been permanently retired from operation.
