The City of Gold Coast and relevant state authorities have issued the following public service announcements and notices active for Sunday, 5 April 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates to ensure community safety and to minimize travel disruptions.

Public Health Alert: Measles Symptom Monitoring

The Gold Coast Public Health Unit (GCPHU) continues to urge vigilance following confirmed measles cases in the region. Although the initial exposure dates occurred in late March, the 18-day incubation period remains active. Residents who visited the following high-traffic locations should monitor for symptoms through mid-April:

  • Robina Town Centre (including Woolworths)
  • Mudgeeraba Market Shopping Centre
  • RACV Royal Pines Resort (Tees’ Clubhouse), Benowa
  • Hillsong Church Gold Coast

Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and sore eyes, followed by a red spotty rash. If symptoms develop, please contact a GP or 13 HEALTH immediately. You must phone ahead before visiting any medical facility to prevent further community transmission.

Road Rehabilitation and Sunday Night Works

Under the 2025–26 Annual Road Rehabilitation Program, essential pavement maintenance and resurfacing works are scheduled to commence tonight, Sunday, 5 April. Work hours are typically between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM to minimize daytime traffic impact. Key areas of activity include:

  • Mudgeeraba: Berrigans Road remains closed to through traffic between Gold Coast Springbrook Road and Mark Way.
  • Robina: Pavement upgrades on Robina Parkway and Cheltenham Drive.
  • Ashmore & Benowa: Minor disruptions on Ashmore Road and Benowa Road.

Motorists are advised that while full road closures are generally avoided for these specific rehabilitation sites, partial lane closures and stop/slow traffic control will be in effect. Please follow all posted signage and allow extra travel time.

Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 Construction

Construction activities for the Light Rail Stage 3 project continue through the Miami to Burleigh Heads corridor. A strictly enforced 40km/h speed limit is in place on the Gold Coast Highway. Commuters are reminded of the following permanent changes:

  • The Gold Coast Highway is restricted to a single lane in both directions between Dawn Parade and West Burleigh Road.
  • Bus stops at Burleigh Heads Primary School and Third Avenue remain closed. Passengers for Route 700 and 765 should utilize temporary stops at The Esplanade.
